I took the halter you gave me and Reggie home to super deep clean it before we take fancy photos together this Sunday. The leather is in excellent condition, but all the hardware except for the nameplate is…rusted? I don’t even know what it is, but there are red-brown spots all over them. And I was so sure they’d come right off with some toothpaste and elbow grease, but no. And I was going at these fuckers for like…almost two full Xena episodes. My right arm still hurts. A friend is going to give me some brass polish and see if that works but I am kind of worried that they are beyond saving.

And I want to cry because I love that halter so much. Is there any way to just get the buckles and rings replaced? Or am I going to have to get a whole new halter? Reveal to me your wisdom, Tumblr friends, horsey or not

officially going to buy metal polish and keep it at the barn with all my leather stuff because I never want to suffer this heartbreak again

The birdie dress is here! It is super adorbs but I did not anticipate it being quite so short. i have to wear bike shorts under it, and you can see them a little bit when the dress swishes but I don’t really care. My graduation gown is going to keep me covered past the knee anyhow. In the future, I can wear leggings underneath if I want. I may also invest in a pair of these adorable bike shorts with lace trim. If people are gonna see ‘em, they might as well be cute.

Also, I was recently followed by a fitspo blog for no apparent reason. Probably “reverse fitspo” or whatever the kids are calling it these days. I dedicate these pictures of my fatness to them. Enjoy!

Last night Erin and I went to In n’ Out for a shake and this dude had been calling out and I just assumed it was some guy being an idiot, and we walked on by. When we came back from the window, he called out “HEY YOU OVER THERE” and I started looking around because it sounded like he was trying to start a fight with somebody. When I finally saw the guy, he was pointing at me and he did look pretty familiar, but I was still kinda shocked. He proceeded to tell me that we’d gone to middle school together, and I stared at him like an idiot for a second before I recognized him. I’d actually had a crush on this dude for like an entire fucking year, probably a little longer.

He looked so different. And I felt so old.

I hadn’t seen the guy since I was like…thirteen.

They’re having it in place of a reception though…so I don’t know if they would actually be getting more presents. I wasn’t planning to give them anything more than a Target giftcard/something inexpensive from their registry because I’m not made of money. Champagne would probably be nice but…they’re Mormon. So.

And also, it’s called an open house but it’s not at anyone’s house? Which adds another layer to the confusion. Usually if it’s at a person’s house, it’s appropriate to bring something, but if it’s at an event hall or whatever, not so necessary.

And ANOTHER also — I want to visit you soon! But I probably could not get my butt out there in time to get photos done and ready in time to make announcements. D:

So, I got invited to “an open house” in honor of a high school friend’s wedding. What does this even mean? Is it just code for “a short reception”? WTF am I supposed to wear?

I don’t know how to do adult.

ETA: Some Googling shows that this is very common for LDS weddings. However, none of it was really helpful on what to wear…apparently open houses can run the gamut from super casual to pretty formal.
